The location of a major hotel in Chicago, Illinois, in close proximity to the “Magnificent Mile” and many nearby office buildings, made it a prime locale for a parking facility, both for the hotel guests as well as daily and monthly parkers.  A massive renovation and re-branding at the hotel, however, led to the closure of the parking facility for several months.  When the hotel reopened, Ampco System Parking was brought in to manage the parking facility’s operations in July 2003.

As part of Ampco’s efforts to raise the aesthetic and service levels of the facility after the hotel renovation, capital projects were completed including lighting upgrades, new signage and graphics, re-painting and the procurement of a sophisticated ticketing and revenue control system.  Hotel guests and other customers experience the tremendous benefits of this system, wherein valet attendants issue computer-generated tickets via a belt printer.  This replaces the traditional, yet slower, handwritten paradigm. 

The results of the newer, updated system are clear – the check-in process is expedited by 25% and the possibility of errors is reduced by 90%.  Moreover, customers now experience the convenience of full credit card payment capabilities.  Aesthetically, the customers now experience a bright appealing facility, enhancing their overall impression of the hotel and the area.  In short, the revamped hotel now has a revamped parking facility.
