Hospital Northwest

Ampco System Parking presently operates the Baker Garage at Tacoma General Hospital.  In mid-April of 2001 we were contacted to assist with an "urgent parking need." The hospital had their construction schedule for an addition to their employee parking garage moved up by several months.  Instead of closing only half of the garage, the contractor needed to close the entire employee parking garage by May 1st for a period of six months. 

Ampco System Parking quickly assembled a plan of action and immediately secured 350 parking stalls at an off-site event-parking facility and put together a shuttle operation with six full time shuttles operating between 6am and 12am Monday – Friday and a staff of 12 shuttle drivers.  The newly hired drivers were immediately put through our Shuttle Certification Program and were ready before the May 1st deadline.  This plan of action was presented to the hospital management who originally anticipated handling the situation themselves.  Due to the quick response of our Operations Team in the Tacoma area, the Hospital turned the entire planning and implementation of the program over to Ampco System Parking.

The shuttle service worked flawlessly for the entire duration of the construction.  The Hospital made it clear that our ability to quickly mobilize a solution to their need secured our longevity at the campus and has been instrumental to our overall success.
