Convention/Entertainment Complex Midwest
Initiating facilities “out of the ground” is one of our strengths at ABM. As construction nears an end, the beginning of new challenges arise. Tenant layout revisions, construction alterations and deadlines that are true to their name need to be met. Additionally, as tenant spaces are occupied, others are being finished and crossover debris is everywhere. Adaptability, responsiveness and communication are essential for a successful transition from construction to occupancy.
ABM successfully completed such a mammoth transition—1,000,000 square feet of space-- in a Midwestern city in the fall of 2003. When we were awarded the janitorial contract for event services at a convention, entertainment and sports venue, we knew of the challenges ahead. Immediately after the award, we were called to start early to perform construction cleaning. Hundreds of trades were still completing work, and construction debris needed to be removed. Additionally, completed areas needed to be re-cleaned continuously as dust and dirt tracked back into those areas and permeated the 1,000,000 square feet of the venue.
Due to construction delays, our employees worked around the construction personnel and around-the-clock up to the moment the doors opened for the first show. With regional support from St. Louis, Kansas City and Minneapolis along with an outstanding concerted push from our local management and staff, we met one of the most demanding and strict schedules.
